KATHMANDU, JANUARY 20 -President Dr Ram Baran Yadav administered the oath of office and secrecy to the seniormost C.A member Surya Bahadur Thapa today. The 86 year old veteran politician is the eldest of the 575 members of the constituent assembly.Vice-President Paramananda Jha, Chairman of Interim Election Council Khil Raj Regmi, acting Chief Justice Damodar Prasad Sharma, chiefs of constitutional bodies and leaders of major political parties were present on the occasion.
The Interim Constitution provides for the head of state to administer the oath to the seniormost lawmaker who conducts the CA affairs until the CA chairperson and vice-chairperson are elected. Thapa will swear in 575 CA members at the CA building in New Baneshwor tomorrow afternoon.
The historic meeting of the second CA will take place on Wednesday at International Convention Centre, New Baneshwor while that of the legislature parliament will take place on January 26.
